Announcing The Web Designer's Idea Book Volume 3
The third book in the Web Designer's Idea Book series is in production now and is set for release in early 2013 (around February). I am currently writing the book and my call for entries is open, so head over and submit your sites!
This third volume will feature a technology section highlighting many of the new developments and techniques that have come to influence design. All with the motivation of inspiring designers of course.
This book can only be as good as the sites designers send in, so please take a moment, register an account and send in your work! 700+ sites will make the cut, and it could be you!
As always, I am looking forward to digging into the entries and seeing the work everyone has been producing.
Pre-order The Designer's Web Handbook
The Designer's Web Handbook is making serious progress and I am excited to say that you can pre-order your copy today, and be sure to use the coupon code "freeshipping".
I am really excited about this book and the audience it speaks to. I have worked for some time with designer's approaching the web from a wide range of backgrounds. It is this perspective that I write from.
The only limitation is I am only going to ship inside the United States. International shipping is to expensive to make it worth it for anyone.
Be sure to use the coupon code "freeshipping" to save a few bucks. But hurry, the coupon code won't last forever!
And keep in mind that this is a pre-order. All orders will ship immediately after I receive inventory in late May to early June 2012.
The Web Designer’s Idea Book in Chinese

If the success of the my idea books wasn’t so surprising as it is, this truly blows my mind. The first book (volume 1) has been translated into two forms of Chinese. And while I don’t speak the language it is obviously exciting to see. Recently I received a few sample copies of the book so I thought I would share a quick photo here.
I also have word that the book is in the process of being translated into three additional languages. I will obviously keep you posted as I get the word on their release!
Since I don't speak the lanugage I ahve a hard time finding links. However, you can order one of the two variations here on Amazon.ca.
Thank you for your entries
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have finalized the list of sites that will be in the book and updated their status in the members section. If you log in you will be able to see if you made it or not.
Unfortunately most of the sites that I had flagged as pending were not included in the book. This is simply because the new book is not an idea book like my first two were. Instead it is more of a handbook for designers on how things work online. As such, the needs were rather specific and not nearly as open to a huge amount of sites. In fact the overall image count in the book is half what the other books have.
I really wish I could have included more sites in the book, but it just didn’t make sense. Fortunately, I will start collecting sites very soon for Volume 3 of the idea book series. I want to make this the biggest and badest one yet, so please be prepared to send I all of your amazing work!
And of course a tremendous thank you to everyone that sent in their site. Your work truly brings life to my books and makes them a joy to work on. Thank you for taking the time to send them in, and I look forward to reviewing the next batch of sites.
The Designer's Web Handbook Cover
It is so much fun to see the book come together. One of the most exciting parts is to see what the designer for my book produces for the cover! I love the direction for this new book. It has it's own distinct style, but fits with the other books. So in a way they make for a set, even though this new book takes a totally different approach.

Book review from Veerle Pieters
Many thanks to Veerle Pieters for the fantastic write up on my second book, The Web Designer's Idea Book Volume 2. I really appreciate hearing how designers find value in the book and different ways to leverage the ideas contained in it.

Web Designer's Idea App - coming soon

I couldn't be more excited to announce that the Web Designer's App will soon be released. This iPad and Mac app will combine both of my books into one slick app. The feature that will likely be a favorite is the inclusion of full size images! This means you can view each sample up close and personal. It will also include some video and audio commentary from me, a favorites feature as well as a small dose of brand new material.
I will be updating the app from time to time with new content. And, in partnership with the HOWInteractive Design Awards, some of those entries will also be eligible for inclusion in the app! There will also be other chances to have your work featured in the app, so stay tuned!
