Preview copies of WDIB 2

patrick mcneil - Tuesday, August 31, 2010

FedEx showed up today with two preview copies of the new book. I am really excited to see the end results. On this sort of long term project it can be so easy to forget how fun the end results are. Several things about the new book that I am really loving:

  1. The biggest improvement is the much larger images. This was the biggest request following book #1 and it really has made a huge impact on the usability of the new book.
  2. The spot varnish on the cover is great and really makes the book pop.
  3. The artwork. I really feel that the new book shows some awesome design work and it really shows how far the industry has come in the two short years since book #1.

Also, amazon is saying the book will begin shipping around September 20th. Pre-order a copy for $19.80.

Book #2 is coming soon!

I have gotten word from the publisher that the new book is a bit ahead of schedule and might be available around the start of September. I can't wait to see it in print!

Also, I have posted some samples from the book if you would like a preview.

The new WDIB site

patrick mcneil - Sunday, July 25, 2010

Welcome to the all new Web Designer’s Idea book site. I had plans for some time to revamp the site. The old version wasn’t so bad, but scaled really poorly. So with the addition of the second book (and a likely prospect of more), I wanted to create a proper home.

In particular the blog will be a place for release information and calls for entries.

So, I hope you enjoy the new site, and check out the books!

Reviews

"This book is a great resource for inspiration if you’re in a creative rut. The best part about it is that it’s a collection of modern websites that apply to today’s design standards, not some ancient collection of Web 1.0 artifacts. "
